I think a place that maintains its integrity through hard times & still provides service with a smile & gratitude for your business, needs to be shown gratitude right back at them. What a fantastic local lunch spot! Menu was vast, foods were fantastic, and service was friendly! Also- very affordable! We share the Jamaican shrimp salad and the chicken pita melt, and added in cups of soup on a cold day- I’d order them all again. They offered us a basket of crackers too- how fun. Visited last summer and just loved this little place, people are friendly. Went yesterday 11/21/23 for my birthday. My grilled sandwich was burned black on one side, place that side down, like I wouldn't know, I took the bread off and laid it on the table, ate the rest. Came here for dinner with coworker and his family. There was about a 15-20min wait (6pm, Friday) so not too long for prime time. It feels a little crowded inside but fortunately not too cramped. Our server was friendly, helpful with suggestions/recommendations, and check up on us frequently. I had a couple glasses of prosecco and the hot pastrami reuben. Cute little spot! Had a bit of a wait on a Thursday evening, but sitting by their beautiful coi pond made the time enjoyable. Server was funny, energetic and cheerful! Food was pretty delicious, though I wish we had a bit more time to enjoy our salads before our entrees came out. I had the pork chop and was impressed by the size of the slab of meat for the price point. Food was 4 stars overall, but the great service & experience made up for it! Food was very delicious and fresh , service was also good , you have to sign in if you want a table or booth . The only thing I can say is they served my boyfriends beer in a room temperature glass and his burger buns were a little stale . He got the bacon cheeseburger and I got the Reuben with both meats . I have loved this cafe for decades, but today was my last visit. We met a friend for lunch, whom we had not seen since before Covid, and about an hour into lunch the new owner, Stacy, asked us to leave. We explained that we had not seen our friend in a while, and she left, only to come back a few minutes later and ask us to leave because there were three people waiting to eat. I've never been treated so rudely, and it she's going to run the cafe this way, I'd advise against going there. Her parting shot was that we should have gone to Panera. Can do. We tried the mushroom burger and the hot Italian sandwich. The burger was okay, but the Italian sandwich was fantastic. We also got an order of the potato pancakes and those were really great, as well! Service was quick and always there when we needed it, as well as timing on the food being quick. I’ve been going to West End Café for many years. The food is consistently good and fresh. There’s a good selection of sandwiches salads soups and homemade desserts. The staff is always friendly and helpful and many have been there for a long time. The atmosphere is relaxed. There’s a good size bar with a nice selection of drinks, beer, and wine.
