It was our first experience at vaqueros today. My boyfriend and I had been talking about trying out this spot for weeks, and boy am I glad we did. I have no complaints. Clean and open floor space, killer salsa bar featuring marinated onions/carrots & 4 different kinds of salsa… HUGE portions bursting with flavor. It wouldn’t surprise me if it was someone’s grandma in the back making these meals, that’s how home grown the flavors are. We opted for the carne asada nachos, a medium horchata to share and a El pastor taco plate w/ rice and beans. After tip I think our total came out to about 25? No only were we full after our visit but we grabbed a Togo menu planning our next trip. Vaqueros is watauga’s best kept secret. I can’t wait to try their flautas. One of the best burritos I have ever had!! Don’t walk, run to this spot. True Cali style burritos. Amazing quality. I crave them now, is there a support group? Even settled well on the tummy. Win win!!

I loved the chips and salsa in the boats hahaha. The food was insanely cheap, crazy flavorful, and the salsa bar all ruled. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Visited this new restaurant for dinner. We got two #5’s which was a cheese enchilada, crispy beef taco with rice and beans. My daughter got the California burrito. They served salsa and chips with the meal. We enjoyed the food pretty well. The beef taco had shredded beef instead of ground but I’m thinking one could request either. I enjoyed it. The food was fresh. The restaurant was clean. It had a simple front of house. You buy at the counter, they have a selection of bottled drinks and they bring the food to your table. There is a small salsa/sauce bar with some other items like pickled onions. You bus your own table. Our only negative was the while the salsa was fresh and tasty it had a flavor in it that we couldn’t place and it was a bit spicy. I admit though, I was picking up the salsa cup and eating it, so I think I was being kind of picky. They serve breakfast items and they are on my way to work. Looking forward to trying them out next week. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $1–10

Finally got a chance to try Vaquero's in Wautaga. This is authentic Cali style Mexican cuisine. Food is delicious. Portions are large. Cost is affordable. Everything I tried so far has been good. Limited seating inside. Plenty of parking. Breakfast selection looks good also. Definitely worth trying this place if you have not already. Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20
This is truly Southern California style. The hot carrots are amazing! The rolled tacos are out of the world! I ordered my potato rolled tacos with guacamole only and was still super impressed. We've had everything from chilaquiles to burritos and have been very impressed. The hot sauce is nice and hot. The staff is super helpful and friendly. I cannot recommend this place enough! Don't miss out! Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $1–10

This place is truly amazing. I am not lying when I say that the food is exactly like San Diego food. The ultimate test is the California burrito and it passed in EVERY way. So much so, that I had to ask where exactly from California they were from. I was amazed and shocked that they come from the same town I grew up in and graduated high school from. Chula Vista, California. If anyone is missing Cali food, come to this place without a doubt. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20

easily the best breakfast burrito in this area. the burritos are huge and delicious. will have to come back soon to try other stuff. it's not filled with cheap bacon either it's the nice thick bacon. went back to get the vaquero burrito one of the best tasting burritos I've ever had. could only eat half of it so much steak and bacon in it.
