We had Sunday brunch at Katharine Brasserie & Bar to celebrate my parents 40th wedding anniversary. We were surprising my parents with brunch and a stay at the Kimpton. The hotel & restaurant went above & beyond to help me pull off the surprise with complimentary gifts and goodies galore! The staff was amazing, the food and drinks were divine. My son said the Belgium waffle was the best he'd ever tasted. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back in the future for special meals. Enjoyed the atmosphere, but for what I paid not worth it at all. One drink $20...tasted like juice, definitely disappointed. Went with a group of 9 to enjoy the night, apparently they only split the bill 4 ways but you can pay with multiple cards....how gracious of them!!! Manager was not very helpful, was not interested in coming up with a solution but rather reiterating the protocol...thank you 😉 Waited inordinately long for the food, everybody food was colddddd, every plate. Such a disappointment 😞. Best thing this place has to offer is complimentary valet if you are eating at the restaurant. Skip this one!! This was our first time visiting. I heard about this place from my cousin. I took my wife there on our anniversary. If you are making reservations and want privacy, make sure you tell them you want the gondola. If it is for more than 2, they have bigger tents, both are heated. It cost $100.00 to rent and reserve the gondola, you get cozy privacy, 2 glasses of champagne and music. If you don't like the music, you can connect your phone to the bluetooth speaker and play your own music. This is a very upscale and classy restaurant, but you do not have to dress up. Casual clothes are fine. They also have a very huge bar. I ordered raw oysters, braised beef short ribs with mushrooms, onions, mashed potatoes, carrots, and spinach. I also had a long island ice tea and for desert vanilla bean creme brulee. Everything was so good. The helping size of the mashed potatoes and carrots was very skimpy. My wife said her meal was very good as well. The service was slow but good. The men's bathroom was clean and well stocked. Warning, this place was pricey. Our total bill was $380.00 plus $12.00 at the near by public parking. I would recommend the valet parking provided by the Kimpton Cardinal Hotel. The Katharine Brasserie & Bar is in the same building as the hotel. It is located in downtown Winston Salem, NC. I would recommend this place just remember to bring your deep pcokets, and I will be visiting again. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

Recently celebrated a friend’s birthday at this establishment, and what I will say that was positive was Peyton (our second server). She was delightful and very accommodating. We initially started with a server named Grace. However, I think Grace was definitely overwhelmed because she was handling customers outside and inside. Before Peyton, came to our table, Grace never asked our order for food; only drinks. Peyton just showed up and took over with no issues. Now the negatives. The rest of dinner was not an experience that anyone would look for in such a beautiful establishment. We had a party of 9, which we all know food can take longer to come out however when our meals were brought out to the table everyone’s food was either cold, not prepared correctly. Some people had ordered blackened shrimp or blackened chicken. The blackened shrimp was rubbery, and the blackened chicken was never blackened, multiple sides being forgotten. We chose not to send back the blackened chicken SALAD for example because it took so long for the meal to come out to the table. Along with having a large party, we were not aware that the bill could not be given to each person separately, yet no issue. However, the way through manager explained the bill can only be spilt in fours, was by saying “it’s on the menu”! As a manager, you should always had yourself with a higher standard when speaking with customers. Also, we were respectful the entire evening, with all the mishaps that took place. Atmosphere was great, with a long beautiful bar, good lighting with large windows and set in a really cool building in downtown Winston Salem. That's about it though for the positive. The steak frites I ordered was $40 and contained maybe only 4 oz of mediocre hanger steak. My friend ordered the burger which was overcooked and the ground beef had a weird mealy texture to it that was frankly terrible. I would not recommend eating here. Absolutely phenomenal! First the best waitress I've ever had, customer service is outstanding and that is an understatement. I suggest the duck, it's unbelievably good. The mussels were outstanding, oysters were great, literally everything was great. The cocktails were a bit overpriced in my opinion, but that is the only "complaint" I have, because they too were phenomenal. They have an extensive wine list and the bar is very well stocked with your choice of spirits. 10/10. Highly recommend. Excellent restaurant in downtown Winston/Salem. Was pleasantly surprised to find this French theme restaurant and the food did not disappoint. The escargot, and the trout were especially fabulous and they had some fun drinks including one that comes out with a toasted marshmallow. Everything was well prepared and flavorful and service was fantastic. I am not a big fan of fish in general, but this one was so well prepared that I finished mine, and a bit of my boyfriend’s as well. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50

Had a great dinner here. Speciality cocktails were amazing, as was all of the food! We had mussels, steaks, salmon salad, and dessert. Honestly dessert was the least favorite. The servers were great, patient with our toddler, and really attentive. We can’t wait to come back here another time. Service Dine in
