This place is two stores back-to-back. The bakery is one side and it is home to the best ever Florentine cookies on earth. I also purchased 2 danish which were very fresh but a tad skimpy on the cherry filling and pecans.
The second store is the cafe. The menu is limited and many of the dishes seem to have a lot going on in them so if you are in search of something simple, you probably won’t find it. I chose the basic breakfast sandwich. This was an egg “patty” with your choice of bread, meat and cheese. For as amazing as the bakery is, this sandwich was not very good and it was all because of the rubbery egg patty.
That being said, the staff on both sides weren’t very friendly and just tolerated the customers. The cafe is a very cute space. Both are very clean And spacious.
Definitely worth returning for the bakery but I will pass on the cafe.
My mother, Gloria, worked at Tag's bakery in 1982. Visiting brings back joyful and tasty memories. Their Florentines are uniquely classic and so delicious. So very glad to see the bakery is still open and thriving, their staff is wonderful. Definitely a place to go and enjoy with others.
The best cookies ever! I order boxes for clients and friends and they never disappoint. The service is excellent and the adjoining cafe is a great place to hang out and order their hot soup - I love the mushroom soup! My new favorite neighborhood hangout!

I grew up I Evanston, have visited tags bakery many many times and used them for various occasions and celebrations. I have ordered the half smiley cookies for many occasions and they have always been beautiful and delicious. My mom ordered a dozen cookies for a bridal shower this weekend and requested sage green with white initials of the bride and groom. When she got them home and I opened the box I was surprised to find these awful green cookies with messy handwriting looking like an amateur had done them. When I called and spoke to the manager she offered no apology or anything to rectify the situation. She even said that she thought they looked pretty so shows how low their standards have gotten. Clearly new management. I’ll be ordering my cookies elsewhere from now on.
Came here for the Florentine Biscuit/Cookie and it was delectable! Each cookie is about the size of an Oreo. They charge by weight, but each cost about $0.61 with tax.
Florentine cookies are toasted almonds covered in caramel with a small dried cherry covered with hard caramel with one side smeared in milk chocolate.
They do them well here! Service was prompt and courteous. I have not tried anything else here, but the rest of the sweets look promising!
