PennDel's is my neighborhood bakery, and it is so familiar that I almost forgot to write about their top notch delicious baked goods. Real French croissants (I lived in Paris, so I know what I am talking about), a Tiramisu to die for, and the best carrot cake that I have ever eaten in my life. Every single crumb is delicious. Apricot and pecan bars are a must-have for first-time visitors. Or just pick up a cake for a loved one, you can't go wrong. PennDel's was born from a love of baking and community. Thank you PD, for setting up shop in El Cerrito and help make it the inspired spot that we dream of. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Tried Pendell’s Bakery for the first time today, because I was considering ordering a birthday cake. The ladies working there are nice and welcoming. The slice of cake I ordered was pretty good and moist. However, I agree with the other reviews that said their cupcakes did NOT taste fresh! It’s not like I ate the cupcakes immediately, I left them out at room temperature for a few hours and still, the cupcakes were dry and neither the frosting nor the cupcake itself gave fresh. I actually wanted to order a cake during one month, followed by three dozen cupcakes for the following month, but now I’m not so sure and will continue looking elsewhere. I may have to just go with Cupcakin Bake Shop, because they never disappoint! Service Take out Meal type Other Price per person $10–20 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

Got the red velvet cupcake, my mom got a slice of carrot cake and a Carmel chocolate cupcake. I really liked it. Yummy and moist.

El Cerrito is fortunate to have this bakery. It has fantastic cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and breakfast pastries. Don't sleep on their scones- I didn't know scones could taste good before this. This is a bakery you get a cake from when you have something to celebrate and want to impress people. It's a bakery that you go to when you want a step up from very good. It's the kind of place that inspires one to write a review. You deserve to go to this bakery.

Stopped by and was eager to try a couple of savory scones. Both were rubbery and over baked - almost a burnt flavor. Dang! If it were just one, I’d say it was an accident. But both? Must be their thing. I mentioned my experience to my wife this evening and she said she’s also stopped by for a few things and been underwhelmed. Might try again since I want to support them.
