If you are in Durango (and appreciate real Italian food), I highly recommend dining at Mama Silvia’s. You won’t be disappointed! For drinks, our party enjoyed the blackberry mojito, sangria, and espresso martini. They were absolutely delicious! We were slightly overwhelmed when it came to ordering food but that is only because there were so many tasty sounding options on the menu. We ended up selecting the agnolotti, veal Parmesan and Paglia E Fieno and shared. Absolutely delicious; you can tell the dishes are made from scratch. We ate everything on our plates. We made sure to save room for dessert and are so glad we did. The strawberry shortcake and chocolate mouse were some of the best desserts we have tasted. We had a wonderful dinner tonight at Mamma Silvia’s. Our waitstaff, Desiree, was attentive and gracious throughout dinner. The appetizers, caprese burrito and calimari were spot on. The house Sangria was over the top. Entrees arrived hot and delicious! And then, came dessert. Mama Mia - the strawberry shortcake with fruit, was out of this world. Demand for this restaurant is high; although we didn’t have reservations, you should. Our family was in Durango celebrating a wedding a day before our wedding anniversary. My wife and I went to Mamma Sylvia's and it was absolutely amazing. The staff was so nice and courteous. The service was awesome from the moment we walked in the door. Everyone we came in contact with was very helpful. The food was authentic and taste so good. I was a little overwhelmed by the menu cause I couldn't pronounce half the stuff on there but the waiter Daniel and the gentleman behind the bar recommend some dishes. Definitely recommend. 5 Stars. Well, for starters, the hostess was boasting about how great another Italian restaurant was in toqn was instead of bragging on the one she worked at, so, not a great start. We sat at the bar, and the bartender put our appetizer order in at the same time as our dinner order, so everything came at once. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo and added chicken. The chicken was basically just boiled, and the pasta was absolutely flavorless and bland. A major disappointment considering the dish was almost thirty dollars. The dinner was amazing. They were able to get us right in, and the food came out extremely fast and was very good. We were seated by their kitchen, and we couldn't believe how quiet and efficient it was. There was another Italian restaurant in town that had a 1.5-hour wait list for the two of us, which we thought was insane. I feel that the waitlist was a blessing in disguse because we looked elsewhere and found this reesutau. Mamma Silva's got in instantly, and the food was remarkable. This place surpassed our expectations. We were all tired and hungry after a long day of exploring. We were met at the door with spectacular hospitality & some of the most wonderful food I’ve eaten in a long time! The pumpkin ravioli chef’s special was the best! We will plan a meal here on every future trip to the area - so good! I love Mamma Sylvia’s! When my dad, who was born and raised in Italy and moved to the US in his 20’s, visited me here in Durango, I knew I had to bring him here. He got on so well with all their wait staff and loved all the food! When he asked if they had Limoncello as a dessert/digestif and they brought it out he was so excited! I still being people here as a little treat. It’s so delicious, and the wait staff are fantastic! If you ever have Payton as a waitress, you’re in for a treat! I’ll always love Mamma Sylvia’s. Every aspect of this restaurant is nearly perfect. The menu is extensive. Food is served hot. Drinks are delicious! And the staff is awesome from the front door to the back. For starters, the hostess was being acting as if we did something wrong, then we got seated and our waiter seemed very nice. I got a taste of the bread, and it was very powdery and floury and bland. Then we ordered our food, and when we got it (about 15-20 minutes later) our waiter yelled at me because the "dish is very hot" which makes no sense, unless it was microwaved; which it was. We tried it and it was, well, my brother's carbonara tasted and smelled like wet dog, and my mother's risotto had lots of wine that wasn't soaked, and the mushrooms were uncooked and dried. All of this is proof that it was microwaved. My food was decent enough, but it doesn't make up for the fact that my mother is currently sick. Not recommended, don't waste your time.
