A fine dining experience right on Main Street in Durango. We arrived at 5 pm and were seated promptly without a reservation. Our server was very attentive throughout the meal, and the manager also checked on us as well as the other patrons. I had the elk tenderloin with cherry demi sauce, and it was phenomenal. It was served with a small sweet potato and mixed vegetables. One friend had a surf and turf, and another had a steak. Everyone enjoyed their main course. However, one friend was not satisfied with her loaded potato. She said it was cold, and when she added additional butter, it didn't melt because of it being cold. For dessert, we had a cheesecake that was creamy and delicious and the toffee cake. It had a beautiful presentation with warm toffee, vanilla ice cream, and whip cream. The cake was not my favorite, but overall, we enjoyed our dining experience. The land & and the bacon wrapped shrimp, the tirumasu, to the Georgia of the South was perfect for my husband & I's anniversary. We came here while back in 2023 and decided to make a second round for the new year. We are so glad we did! This place is absolutely amazing to the beautiful interior! The staff is always friendly, thorough, and consistent. Everything was cooked to perfection, and I loved that the steak was cooked to medium rare, and the dessert was delicious. You could taste the coffee! Thank you, this is our must stop any time we can come to Durango. (We tried the prime rib and Chicken Saltimbocca in 2023, and it IS delicious!! Anything on the menu is a must try!) Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
We made reservations thinking we would be seated and served in a timely manner, but we ran into a bus group that overwhelmed the restaurant. No fault of theirs except they could have planned that large group seating better. Our dinner was what we expected even though it took over an hour to get our main course of Elk Tenderloin. Our server Rachel was very attentive, but the kitchen was simply overwhelmed with so many orders all going in at once. This is a beautiful restaurant with polite and courteous staff. Hostess seated us quickly w/o reservations (thank you) she was friendly and our server, Charlie was fantastic. He answered all our questions and was very accommodating during our meal! I had the rainbow trout and it was A-mazing! Delicious & perfectly cooked. My baked potato was a little dry but it wasn’t the end of the world. Hubby had the rigatoni and that was good as well. Love the atmosphere here in the Strader Hotel! It’s magical 🧙‍♀️ Prices are reasonable given the area and you won’t leave disappointed. The portions are perfect! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The food was amazing and the wait staff is pretty good as well. It's a formal dining place and the atmosphere shows it. I think the service was dressed nicer than we were. The only problem is that the kitchen Cooks for multiple rooms and not just the one dining area that you are sat in and so it takes awhile to get your food. But once you get it, it's so worth it. Very fresh and well cooked. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
There was a day, long, long ago, when the Mahogany Grill was an institution in Durango, CO; it was the apex predator of dining in Durango. And from a service perspective, it is still top tier. Katie’s service was second to none. But the food, alas, was not. No bacon on the over-dressed ceaser. And the French onion soup was tragedy personified - over-peppered, no crostini, only sadness. The steaks - the former luxurious pepper steak Herbert and and a costly prime rib - were ordered medium rare, but came out a tragically tasteless and well done. They were savage, over-gristled and heart breaking. As a long time Durango resident, it was heartbreaking. We use to dine here with enthusiasm on virtually every holiday. Now I wouldn’t honor them with my presence on a rainy Wednesday afternoon. Don’t waste your time or money, only disappoint waits… Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $100+ Food: 1 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

The service was fantastic, the atmosphere is great. The food and drinks were not up to my expectations. I was disappointed with the quality of food and plating. The drinks were not very good either, you can get better food and drinks in Durango. To top it off we both had stomach aches later that evening. My wife threw up and decided to not eat the leftovers after that. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–100 Food: 1 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
The food is okay. The vegetables with my steak and lobster were sauteed brussel sprouts and red pepper. So boring and not prepared well. The mashed potatoes were cold. They made all of the temperatures for our steaks wrong. The room we were in was too cold to take my jacket off which was annoying. $200 for two people, the food and service should have been better. I will not be coming back. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $100+ Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

Came here for our 26th anniversary dinner. The food was really good. I had the stuffed chicken and my husband had the lasagna. The highlights were the adult candy appetizer and key lime pie cocktail though. I'd go back just for those. The waitress (Rachel) was great. She was attentive without being obtrusive. Highly recommend this place.

We had a really delicious dinner here in this gorgeous historic hotel. The food was outstanding and the service was very attentive. The Trout Almondine was one of the best prepared versions and I order that often. The pasta with salmon was delicious too. I would definitely recommend for dinner.
