Showed up as a performing artist for their promoted open mic - After about a week of promotion with my face on the flyer and additional promo on my end, they didn't even try to mention they charge artists a "pay to play" fee of $10 PER SONG until we were physically at the venue My manager and I only discovered this fact the day of the event as we arrived at the venue. Both the promoter and venue seem to utilize lack of communication in order to further benefit themselves by putting artists and showgoers on the spot once they arrive to charge as much as they can When my manager attempted to resolve the situation by explaining that clearly I would be providing income for both the venue and promoters business via my own fanbase, the promoter tried to tell me he had 100 artists lined up and refused to waive the pay to play fee. This entire experience made me aware of the fact that they intentionally withhold event information, do all they can to take advantage of, and make as much profit off of the artists/customers with little to no consideration for professionalism or running an honest establishment. I do not enjoy leaving this review. My manager and I did everything we could to get all of the info and communicate with the venue and DJ/Promoter ahead of time. My crowd of nearly thirty would have provided considerable profit for the business, however they refused to not charge artists their ridiculous rate to perform. We wanted to create a positive, profitable, and memorable experience for all organizations involved to no avail. Very obvious they use these sort of events as a cash cow and dont care about the actual art, artists or atmosphere Instead I took my crowd of 26 people to pizza in Georgetown Don't waste your time here
I was not impressed with this establishment. First off, the website says that the place opens up at 4om. Well my family and I got there at 4pm and we were told that the place opens up at 6pm. We came there to support a performer that was gonna perform there. Anyway we didn't get in until almost 7pm, and we were told that their kitchen was closed, so there was no food and had the nerve to charge 5.50 for a bottled water. I could go on but I won't.
Went for an event and absolutely love the owner and workers. All so kind and friendly to talk to. They make sure you feel comfortable. They definitely make sure you get your money’s worth and the music is great. Will come again soon.

I love Illusion Bar & Lounge. The place is beautiful, they have two bars upstairs & downstairs. The Sisters that own & host the festivities @ the Lounge are beautiful human beings. It's my pleasure to patronize their business. It's sad that they have to close by 1am, but all that will change soon !!! 👍👍👍👍4 thumbs up for them !!!
My favorite place in DC. Super chill but the most amazing owners. Cool locals, cool vibe, always the best atmosphere. Highly recommend!!

I visited several times as a guest for an event being hosted at this location on a Friday or Saturday night. ✨TLDR; This is a bar and hookah lounge with two floors; ground floor and second floor. They offer live music from a live DJ; however, there is not much space or room to dance. I experienced poor service at the bar and long waiting time for hookah. There is a single bathroom located on the ground floor; just in case you really have to go. 🕋Ground Floor: Their is a single bar on this level and some sitting area with a TV. You have some music being routed from the main floor but no patrons or service at the bar. Their one and only public bathroom is located on this floor. 🕋Second Floor (Main Floor): Their is plenty of lounge/sitting space but not much room for standing or dancing. Their is a single bar on this level as well. But I had a hard time placing orders. 😢Experience: I spent 10-30 minutes attempting to get the bartenders attention on several occasions. When a bartender finally responded, she stopped taking my order mid-sentence to help another person. She did ask the other bartender to complete my order. However, the second bartender was already ringing up an order and pretty much forgot I was standing there. Both bartenders pretty much stepped off extending my waiting time. It’s a bar, I do expect that I have to be proactive in get my drinks. But (as a bartender) when you’re standing around, staring at your phone, walking off, or pawning off patrons, it shows and really takes away from what could have been a not so terrible experience.

Nice clean space, dope DJs and great drink prices makes this the perfect spot for happy hour. I haven't tried the food. If it's as good as everything else then this is a five star joint 😉.

Hospitality is superb, I am a huge critic of customer service! So that being said,... order the food and take a damn shot on me! Tell them Benjamin sent you and I promise, you will be served with greatness! Enjoy! Oh tell Sunshine to sing... (dogs howling) she is good! Lol #Family
An Ethiopian restaurant.Handicapped accessible entrance and ground floor. There are two full service bars upstairs and downstairs. The food and presentation is beautiful. Book a group and ask for a cultural experience with Ethiopian coffee time. It is so special and as you will see a very important part of Ethiopian life and culture. In the evening the upstairs is open for dinner, dancing and fun. There is take out also. Ample Street parking. There are large TV screens for sports enthusiasts and Sunday after 9 pm there is live entertainment with a well known Ethiopian female vocalist. Staff and service is very personable, professional and warm.
