We had read that this was a fabulous place to eat properly cooked Dutch Friets in a lovely beach style setting.
Anyway, this was our second attempt to eat here. On the first attempt we arrived at ca. 18:40 to be told that the kitchen was already closed. Pity as we had been lead to believe that they are open here until 19:00.
Anyway, on our second attempt, we checked before taking a walk along the beach. They stop serving at 18:30 so we made sure that we were back by 18:00. This time, all was good. My wife & I ordered the fish & chips Kibbeling with Mayo and Tartare sauce. It was served in polystyrene boxes and came with wooden knives and forks. But OK. I washed mine down with a can of beer - Grolsch.
The guys behind the counter were really chirpy - very friendly. And the most spoke excellent English which was a nice bonus.
Goog place for fish&chips by the seaside, around 50 meters for the North Sea beach, which is a great place for a healthy walk before or after the meal. They serve kibbeling (small pieces of codfish) and lekkerbek (big codfish fillet). Non-fish eaters can choose a pork schnitzel. Prices and serving sizes are reasonable. You can get there also by car (parking fee is 3E).
Fish and chips were delicious, good crunch and flavor. I would recommend getting smaller pieces instead of one large one! Super friendly and faster service
These guys worked like hell to get everyone their fresh fries and fish. Good quality chips, small but sunny terras. Long line before I could place out order, but once it arrived, great! They had a vegetarian kroket and cheese souffle. Otherwise limited for vegans. Bit to much single use plastic, however the fish and chips box was made of carton. Do not forget your own coffee cup!
Among the best, crispiest, and most flavorsome fries I have ever had in NL. The fish was good but was clearly second best against the fries.
Highly recommended.
