My recent dining experience at Himalayan Kitchen in Durango, Colorado, was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with an atmosphere of warmth and authenticity that set the stage for an unforgettable meal. Starting off with a delicious beer and indulging in the dumplings for an appetizer, I knew I was in for a treat. Opting for the grilled meat dish, which featured shrimp, lamb, and chicken cooked in onions, I was blown away by the explosion of flavors. The dish far surpassed my expectations, with each protein cooked to perfection and complemented by the sensational fresh green sauce. To elevate the experience further, I requested some hot sauce, which added a flavorful and spicy kick that I highly recommend to anyone seeking an extra punch of flavor. Accompanied by a side of rice and some bread that resembled Pita, every element of the meal was meticulously prepared and incredibly satisfying. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring that every need was met promptly and courteously. Despite the bustling Friday evening crowd, the restaurant maintained its cleanliness and charm, albeit requiring street parking. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Himalayan Kitchen to anyone craving an exceptional dining experience in Durango. With its outstanding food, reasonable prices, and top-notch service, it's a culinary gem that deserves to be celebrated. Whether you're a local or just passing through, be sure to add this restaurant to your must-visit list—you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend eating here. It was absolutely amazing! The food was great. The atmosphere was great. The service was great. I would say if you like Nepal/Tibetan cuisine, this is a must. Even if you have never tried this type of food, I think you would still enjoy it very much. Again, I highly recommend 👌! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Not worth the money if you are looking for authentic Indian/Nepali Food Taste (talking specifically about Non Veg options, they might have better taste in veg menu). We ordered Papads as snacks with Masala Chai, Tandoori platter and Chicken Curry. Tandoori items were too dry, spiceless and were not looking fresh at all. Chicken curry was just fine. Only better deal we found was Masala chai. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–100 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

I live 6 hours away from Himalayan Kitchen and will plan a long weekend in Durango primarily to visit this restaurant. There have been times we’ve gone three nights in a row for dinner. One year we got takeout around the holidays and our order came with the gift of a Himalayan Kitchen mug. My husband and I were so thrilled to have a memento from our favorite restaurant! We talk about Himalayan Kitchen probably at least once per month, and can I reiterate that we live 6 hours away? 12 hours round trip. If the owners of Himalyan Kitchen would want to expand to our town we would become investors. I honestly don’t know how to recommend a restaurant any more highly. Ok now on to the food. You need to order the Sankhuwa Machha with shrimp (but also really good with salmon). If they bottled the sauce it comes in I would buy it by the gallons. My husband gets the Chicken Tikka Masala. At one point they took it off the menu but made it for us one night when it wasn’t too busy - what a kind chef! Oh. Don’t skip out on the Masala Chai. You should definitely visit this restaurant specially if you are looking for veg options in mountains.. we have tried paneer masala, kheer and wheat roti and their traditional Dhopji (bread made with stone grounded wheat) , so it’s going to be hard . I would say veg options were decent. Neither superb nor ignorant. Cardamom flavor was dominant in kheer. I liked the food though my frnds thought frozen curry / chapati was served… not sure about that.. but definitely one visit can be made… Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

We enjoyed this restaurant tonight. I ordered the Tikka Masala and garlic Naan, my husband had the curry and butter Naan. Neither had any heat at all. They were both very very mild. The tikka masala tasted of tomatos and cream, the curry was much more flavorful.
