My husband and I visited this weekend while we were down in Provo. This was our first time visiting. We really enjoyed to food we ordered, but the service was rushed and it was a long wait. We ordered the Calamari as an appetizer. The Calamari was alright, and we ordered 5 sushi rolls. All which were delicious! We ordered the Rock Shrimp, BSCR, Big Sumo, and the Baked Lobster roll. We come here often to enjoy some of the best sushi our city has to offer. If you’re lucky you’ll get Abril as your waitress. She is by far the best waitress we’ve ever had at any restaurant. She’s friendly & informative about the menu & always on top of it. We love Happy Sumo. So fresh and always hits the spot. The sushi wasn’t that great, specifically the rolls. Sashimi was ok, disappointed by the salmon and tuna, and the escolar which is my favorite was stringy for some reason. My husband and I are both sushi fanatics and have been trying sushi all over the states, from Hawaii to Charleston and other places in between. Happy Sumo is definitely on the top of the list when it comes to specialty rolls. There is a lot of variety, all good sized and fresh. The flavor has been full of flavor and we love experimenting all of the rolls in our menu. They also keep coming out with new ones to try. The appetizers have all been pretty fresh and cooked well. The tempera is crispy and comes out hot. I have to make a point and say their entries are subpar to the sushi. I wouldn't recommend coming just for entries. Best sashimi I've had in Utah! And the rolls we tried were delicious. It was a pretty long wait for our food but worth it.

Enjoyed their Vegas and Cabana rolls. Service was quick and the sushi was pretty good! The waitress was attentive and quick to refill our drinks and I appreciate that. Overall we enjoyed it, but the price did seem higher than other comparable sushi places. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Service is great and the atmosphere is upscale for Provo. I’m assuming that makes up for the terrible food that is way overpriced for what it is.
