No prices listed on the menu or anywhere else. Small cup of iced coffee ended up being $11 each. Very bitter and stale. Also had the Cortado which was milky with weak coffee taste. They use Sightglass beans which I’ve had previously in SF and are usually great but not sure why the weak taste. Having prices listed on the menu would be a great start and better preparation of the coffee

Gavel is largely for guest and event visitors at the Stanly resort. But it is clear that it wants to make a statement. The industrial barn interior is modern and sophisticated. The high ceilings let the coffee aroma rise and please.
The coffee was great with awesome beans to choose from. And both the baristas were absolutely friendly and top notch. i have to say, I wasn't expecting choscolate croissant so crispy and soft from a coffee shop. Simply speaking, the coffee and pastries are awesome. Combine this with the patio/yard seating area, you have a successful coffee joint that is unique and charming.
Now why 4-stars and not 5? Well... it's the price. Every coffee and drink is $7+ as well as each piece of pastry/bread. Now you might say what was I expecting at a top-notch resort. But somehow I could not let go of the feeling that guests were taken advantage of. There's literally no other options in the resort...
Don't get me wrong. Gavel is great. I'd go there again tomorrow. Just can't give it 5-stars which are reserved for delivering great coffee for a much reasonable price.

You better be a guest or I don’t know what….just don’t be a local that wants a cup of coffee. Charge $8 for a cup of joe! claiming its for environmental protection?!
