As soon as you walk in, the dim lights and the candles turn on giving a warm winters afternoon. It was self service but it was very quick and easy. You can take your time, think about what you want, then order. It was fast but very yummy. We both had the Norwegian Salt Cod Stew (Bacalao) and the cod pieces were big and juicy. It was a richly filled stew. The bread was nice and warm, freshly out of the oven with a nice bit of butter.
Warm comforting foods with the best view in town! Self service - order, pay, and wait for the buzzer to go off. Big and spacious resurant with lots of tables spread comfortably. We had the creamy fish soup. It was good, rather small dish but rich. Seasoned just right. Bread was fantastic. Girls at the counter were very professional, quick and friendly.

We booked a restaurant table, and pleased we did as it was a busy evening. We got a great window seat to enjoy the view.
The staff were great and offered a good service. This is a canteen type service, and there is no table service.
The cakes are excellent.
The restaurant food was not what I was expecting, especially after looking at some previous reviews and pictures. Some of these dishes looked very nice and I was thinking, some great restaurant food with a view.
The burgers looked like a good option, and I was looking forward to this. However, it only tasted OK, it did not come with chip (fries), only crisp. The mushroom soup did not look like the previous photos, a plain bowl of soup, and some bread on the side. Overall, it was a bit disappointing for what I thought would be more restaurant than cafe.
My experience was definitely more cafe than a restaurant, and it would be great for a hot drink, cake and then the view.

'Order from the counter and collect' type place. We had a reservation but it was never completely full while we were there.
The reindeer was nicely cooked and wonderfully plated with lingonberry splatter 🙌 the chef talked to customers and switched out the sides to make one dish lactose free. Really appreciated this. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Can't comment on the coffee but they have Mack cider. The cakes came out of plastic wrapping, so likely bought either from a grocery market or café in town. The northern lights cake is however nice to look at and tastes good.

Its on top of the mountain and near to cable car end point. Normally restaurant will be crowded. Food was ok. Service also good

What is nice from this place:
✅️ The view over Tromsø.
✅️ To have a place sheltered from the weather while visiting Storstein.
✅️ In our case, we put the order at the counter but the food came to the table, which is better than collecting it yourself.
✅️ The focaccia bread was tasty and warm.
What should be improved:
❌️ The portions were super small but the price was not small.
❌️ The food was cold.
❌️ In the menu said that the dish we ordered (Arctic char) was served with potatoes...but never got these.
We felt quite scammed with the price/portion and the lack of potatoes.
If I were you, future visitor, I would just buy something cheap, like a coffee or tea, don't expect quality and just take it to have a seat, rest and get warm while enjoying the view.
