I recently visited this Costa Vida location and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. The service was notably slow, which was quite frustrating, and the ambiance near the connected bowling alley was less than pleasant, contributing to an overall unpleasant atmosphere. One significant issue was the size of the food portions. I found them surprisingly tiny, leaving me feeling dissatisfied and questioning the value for money. When dining out, a reasonable portion size is essential, and unfortunately, Costa Vida fell short in this regard. Moreover, the connected bowling alley added an unpleasant aroma to the entire experience, impacting the overall enjoyment of the meal. This unexpected aspect further detracted from what should have been a pleasant dining experience. In summary, my visit to Costa Vida was marred by slow service, an unappealing atmosphere, inadequate food portions, and an unwelcome odor from the nearby bowling alley. The combination of these factors made for a disappointing and frustrating dining experience that, unfortunately, did not meet my expectations. Pictured below are the actual portions of my meal. I love Costa. I spend hundreds on gift cards each year. I’ve been to most in Utah and think they’re delicious. The Provo Costa Vida has the stingiest staff I’ve ever seen. For a while, they would weigh your food and remove meat they already put in if the weight was too high. Almost 100% of the time I come here, I get about half the portion I would at the Bountiful or Heber or City Creek Costa. It’s ridiculous. And half the time the staff look semi-mad you’re there. And they are always trying to close before they actually close. Love Costa, but am not a fan of this location. I don’t know if this is because of different ownership or what, but please fix it. Edit: just happened again Edit: came again. Maddie was terrific and gave fair portions. However, they apparently are not doing water cups right now because “people abused them.” Seems ridiculous to me. Everyone restaurant in America deals with it and still gives them out. I recently visited Costa Vida and had a mixed experience. The food was delicious, but the parking situation left much to be desired. The restaurant is located in a busy area and shares a parking lot with Fat Cats bowling, which makes finding a spot quite tricky. The parking situation was so bad that I almost considered turning around and leaving before even trying the food. Once I made it inside, though, I was pleased with the atmosphere and the friendly staff. The restaurant is connected to Fat Cats bowling, which adds to the overall vibe. The decor is vibrant and fun, and the team is happy to help you navigate the menu. Speaking of the menu, I highly recommend the burritos at Costa Vida. They are enormous and full of flavor. I also enjoyed the fresh salsa and guacamole that came with my meal. However, I do think that the prices are a bit steep for what you get. Overall, if you can handle the parking situation, I think that Costa Vida is worth a visit. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is fun, and the staff is friendly. Just be prepared to circle the parking lot a few times before finding a spot. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $1–10 Recommended dishes Steak Salad
This location is one of the worst I’ve ever been to. Unfortunately, it’s the closest one to my house, so I usually order from here out of convenience. However, the food is always sub par in comparison to other costa vida locations I have gone to. I have usually just chalked it up to incompetent staff, but I’ve had the same experience over and over for an extended period of time. The last two times I ordered from here were exceptionally awful. I ordered a sweet pork salad both times and found almost all of the lettuce in my salad to be brown and soggy. It was borderline rotten to the point where I couldn’t eat any of it. And on top of that the tortilla wasn’t even cooked. It was raw dough and inedible. This time I came home to find my salad had barely any food in it, some gross pieces of lettuce, and the tortilla I asked for on the side had been mistakenly put in my salad, taken out, and wrapped up like normal till I opened it up to see that there was a bunch of rice and lettuce stuck to the inside of it. I can’t believe the workers here can put food like this together and not use common sense to tell that it’s unacceptable. Worst location avoid this place if you can help it Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
Fair warning, don’t order online. I ordered enchiladas with red sauce and a side container of raspberry chipotle and pico. I got enchiladas smothered with raspberry chipotle sauce inside and out and no pico. I also requested no cheese and it was filled with cheese. I couldn’t eat it since it was so sweet already with the sweet pork. It had one spoonful of rice and half a plate of black beans (ratio way off). Not sure if their workers read what people order or if they’re expected to go as fast as possible…🥴 Honestly I’m not even mad, I’m just so sad & disappointed because I was craving something salty and got something on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. So now I’m sitting here in my office trying not cry #periodt #period Service Take out Meal type Lunch Price per person $1–10 Recommended dishes Sweet Pork
Unfortunately, this place was a disaster when I visited. The line of about 10 people in front of me took over 30 minutes to get to payment. Unfortunately, a lot of that was while the food sat on the counter working its way to the finish line. This resulted in cold food. The staff was clearly overwhelmed with more than one order at a time. They would have been faster just finishing one off and having them pay. They tried to give my food to two different people in front of me. I have a hard time believing this isn't a consistent problem here based on what I observed, but lots of people came after me, not a few of which gave up and left while I was eating.
Parking is impossible. They do not have a drive through and the $9.49 enchiladas would make a nice apetizer. Not the cleanest serving area I have seen. In addition, the beans are under-cooked. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2
DO NOT ORDER ONLINE! If you think placing an online order will help you save time, think twice! 4 out of the last 5 times we have waited at least 30 minutes (today it was almost an hour) at the pick up counter for our food. Today they overlooked our order all together and never did make our food until I asked to speak to the manager (thats after talking to two other employees that assured me mine was on the way). Even the manager had no empathy, when I asked what was going on. The only positive was that since he couldn't find our order he made the two burritos right away and it was nice and hot (was still annoyed after he just slid it across the counter to us without saying a word). We used to order a lot of food from this location for my work, but we have since given up. I guess I am a little slow at catching on to the fact this location does not understand the concept of a pick up order! Don’t order ahead! I waited for over 25 minutes in the pick up line even though I had paid ahead of time. They helped everyone in the normal like from start to finish before they even sent anyone to the pickup line. It’ll be faster to order when you get there but honestly avoid this location they’re slow moving.
Doordash messed up my order, so I ended up coming in pretty upset 5 minutes to close. Maddie was so quick to help! Her and her twin were both very sweet! They were sympathetic and quick to fix the problem!! Thank youu for turning a frustrating moment to a great experience!!
