Down home kitchen and the best breakfast I've had at a restaurant in a long time. It's not expensive and it is good country cooking. Had the pancakes which were fluffy and quite good. My son had a chicken biscuit which was excellent. All of the food was great and our server was the best part of our experience there. She was so nice, attentive and funny! Lasagna-gate 2024...until addressed we'll never come back here. This is a vast change from the previous owner who was very nice, engaging, & professional (May 2022). I hate he left...our experience follows. So I had to share this experience and my recommendation to NOT patronize this Cagneys Kitchen off Cloverdale Ave location. Please comment, especially on their SM pages, and share, share, share! We have never had an issue here, but things have clearly changed since the owner left and returned to Boston. Long story short, 2 of us ordered, Lasagna. Now mind you, they have Baked Spaghetti too. I'm not sure if the server misheard the order. I ordered “Lasagna” 1st (the word baked was used) and another person in our party ordered lasagna but said “baked lasagna” and we went on about our business. We finally get our food and I'm looking…like what is this because it's not what I ordered. We alert the server to take it back for the lasagna we ordered. It takes a minute and then we hear another server saying something about making changes and not getting in trouble. Why did the other server had to tell us and not the original server, idk. 🤔 She proceeds to tell us that the “cook” said they if we reordered, we'd have ro pay for both dishes. We refused and had them remove the 2 erroneous dishes. So we pretty much didn't eat. The “cook” or manager didn't even come out to address us. I didn't want ANYTHING from that kitchen after that anyway. So I implore you all to NOT spend your hard earned money at a place that will not respect or appreciate it's customers. Ordered lasagna here today and pics below is what I received. Was so overcooked that it was not edible. When I called to tell them about it, I was told Grub Hub would need to issue the refund since the order went through them. No apology or concern that someone just said their food was inedible! Stopped in for breakfast before an interview. Greeted and seated promptly. My meal was good and very filling. What took me by surprise was a gentleman who took my check and paid for my meal. My waitress was awesome. Took care of me as if I were family! Fast service, great food, and the biscuits were to die for! I had to order 2 to go so my wife would believe there are restaurants that still bake fresh biscuits from scratch. In my travels I would definitely go again! The water even tasted clean. This is an excellent place to eat. We were at Baptist hospital and thought we would try them. We went back twice breakfast and supper. Food was very good and the wait staff very nice and helpful. Please try this if you are in the area definitely a good choice. The menu is online and they have a wide variety. We used to love Cagney’s. Ever since they changed management a while back, their mediocre service has gone terribly down hill. We went in tonight and waited to be seated, and waited, and waited until we finally left after five different employees had looked at us, walked past us and never even acknowledged that we were there. I love Cagney's Kitchen! The food is excellent each time I have been there. They do serve breakfast all day, as well as lunch and dinner. Their menu is large, and there is no way one cannot be pleased after eating there. The atmosphere is very family oriented, very friendly with attentive servers. The restaurant, as well as the parking lot, can get pretty tight because everyone loves this place. They do have restrooms up front. They do have handicap parking, but they are usually full. No complaints here... Cagney's on Cloverdale and Miller have been my heartstrings for years. It is more than just an excellent breakfast but an experience. I appreciate the food and its great customer service. The previous owner Ilir and the new owner, Ervin, are intentional about serving their customers. Food is always fresh, tasty, and punctual. My family enjoy them too. I also appreciate that it is in the heart of great shopping areas and other favorites and is situated away from traffic. Easy access and time conscious on service.
