About
If you like the Mexican cuisine, you should visit this restaurant. You can always try good pork and perfectly cooked tacos - a special offer of Cafe Rio Mexican Grill. As a number of reviewers notice, coffee is really good. This place is well known for its great service and friendly staff, that is always ready to help you. From the visitors' viewpoint, prices are fair. But people rate this spot below average on Google.

This was a Drive thru experience which was lacking over all. If people do not want to work in the service industry THEY SHOULD NOT! Change your attitude in the drive thru, perhaps a greeting or not being annoyed that you simply have to take orders would be nice. Also whats with the tipping culture. Its getting out of hand! To ask me if I “would like to tip 20%, 15% or zero Percent” for what?! Inconveniencing you to take my order?? 🤔 get out of here with that nonsense. And for two shrimp tacos I got two cilantro salads. Disappointed overall! Service Take out Meal type Lunch Price per person $1–10 Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2
I ordered 2 quesadillas in drive thru with 2 large drinks which came out to an unbelievable price of $35. I usually love their shredded chicken quesadillas but couldn’t even eat 1/4 of my food because it was bottom heavy with huge globs of cheese. It was truly disgusting. Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 1 Service: 2
I like Cafe Rio, but this is not the best location for this chain. The menu here is great, however this location is frequently out of fire grilled steak, and fire grilled chicken (the two best protein options on the menu) usually the pinto and black beans look like they've been sitting in the warmer since yesterday. Service is usually friendly but usually slow. Most of the staff seem to be high-school age kids with very little adult supervision, which I think contributes to the sloppy service that I usually receive here, I almost always leave this location without all the items I order, make sure to thoroughly check your back to make sure they gave you everything you paid for. Service Take out Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3 Recommended dishes Enchilada Style Burrito
I rated this on my taco, it was happy hour so I ordered a beef taco and it was a deal for 5$ til I received my 4" taco. It was tasty but I never received such a small taco,so disappointed, my friend paid 7$ for a 4" fish taco. The only plus side was our server. Will not go back because I feel it should have said 4" Service Delivery Price per person $10–20 Food: 2 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

This one star review is only for the Higley and baseline location. Terrible service and terrible food. They mess up the order almost every time, it's never ready when the app says it's supposed to be ready, even the drinks are worse and the food doesn't taste the same as all the other locations. The meat is way more runny and the flavor isn't right. The rice is crunchy and the tortillas are smaller. How can it be so different from all the other stores? I've been living at Higley and Guadalupe for 4 years and I was so excited when I found out we were getting a Cafe rio. At first I thought the quality was bad because it was Brand new and they just needed to get transfers from other locations but it's been opened a while and no improvements. We usually end up driving further to get food from the other locations but sometimes we don't have time and we regret it every time. When we have guests from out of town who want Cafe rio we make sure we go to another location. I would honestly be embarrassed to take them to the Higley baseline location because it wouldn't be anything like how they remember. Do better. Figure out what is wrong with your ingredients and your employees. Visit the other stores get pointers from them. They got it right they should be able to help you with your store too. The manager was awesome. He made the experience become something better than a total flop. The line was extremely slow (maybe 10 people in front of us, but we stood in line for at least 20 minutes), food was good, the employee (without the managers help) didn't know how to activate the gift cards, so that was a fiasco.

This was my first visit to this location (Baseline/Higley AZ). They were very accurate with my order, portion size is just like any other Cafe Rio, the employees were very friendly and the music was great. I even saw an employee singing in the kitchen area. I was very glad to see that someone was enjoying her job. 🥰 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Went to get the new elite bowl because we got an advertisement in the mail. They said the wait for corn would be 20-30 minutes. I don’t know how you’re cooking the corn but how can it possible take that long. I felt like they were just trying to get me not to order it Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
I have been eating at Cafe Rio for more than 10 years. A new Cafe Rio just opened a block away from me. Obviously, I want to eat there BUT this is my third time now at this location and all three times have looked almost exactly like this…old lettuce, cilantro, and brown avocado. Why? It is so difficult to make sure your products are fresh at a BRAND NEW LOCATION!?!? Not only that, I use to get a salsa on my salad now I get charged $1.00 per salsa when it is supposed to go on my salad!?!? I will never eat at this location again. I have called and complained and been disrespected each time. So for the first time ever, I am leaving a BAD REVIEW!
Kids loved their kids quesadillas. My husband loves his enchilada styled burrito the way it came. Me? I paid extra for quac, sour cream, and cheese on my 2 tacos. My quacamole came looking like it was 2 days old. No cheese. I basically paid probably like $5-$7 extra for toppings that were nonexistent and absolutely disgusting to even look at. Will not be returning to a Cafe Rio that has a drive thru. I'll stick to the dine in locations where I can see what my food looks like before I take it home.
