The best Laotian restaurant I’ve been to! Everything we ordered was delicious. The crab fried rice had so many chunks of crab meat! Love the Sakoo (tapioca meat balls) the best. Caution: their mid spicy level is not your US spicy level and is 🔥 Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $30–50 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes Sakoo

Really delicious high quality food! We missed out on the fresh spring rolls because the kitchen was backed up. But nice to know there's more to look forward to next time. Nice wine menu. Lovely staff as well :) Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Tried this place on a random Saturday night for dinner. They were pretty busy but the service was great. The food was tasty but the only thing is I wish our dish had more protein in it. Other than that the presentation was really cute and had good flavor over all. Plates are shareable sizes so it’s more of a family style type of dinning. What a wonderful restaurant! My Dad and I went in for my birthday dinner. The staff is so amazing and so nice. We asked about a few things and for recommendations and everything we ate we said, oh WOW! Delicious. It is a family business and you can really see and taste how much love and care goes into their food. I can’t wait to go back. Thanks to our lovely servers who were so thoughtful and wished me a happy birthday at the end of the evening! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
BMV was SO good! I haven’t had nam khao in years and i was so excited when I saw that it was on the menu here. I had only had it twice before but this was by far the best nam khao I’ve ever had. Huge portion too! So tasty, crispy, slightly spicy and well balanced. I would come back just for that dish! 😋 The pad see ew was also exceptional, super fresh and the noodles were so tender. Shrimp in a blanket was a delicious appetizer and perfectly cooked. This spot was awesome, I can see why it was so busy. Service was excellent and it felt very clean inside. Lighting was a little harsh but not a big deal at all, I’d still come back for that nam khao 🫡 Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

We had a party of 7 and ordered a mountain of food. The service was amazingly quick. We didn't have to wait long and before I knew it, all our food was at the table! The food that they served here is as authentic as it can be, if you are looking for lao/thai food. However, the Thai tea was a little too sweet for my taste, but overall would recommend. To be honest, we ordered way more food than the provided pictures, but I was too eager to eat! Absolutely stunning. I think this may be the best Laotian/Thai restaurant in the Bay Area. If you're in the mood Laotian/Thai, and in the mood for something special, stop reading and just go to Bhan Mae Vane (BMV). The food is authentic, flavorful, and simply heavenly. If you've never been, try the Sakoo. These are chewy taro balls with savory meat - sort of like a mochi ball with meat. This will blow you away. The chew into this ball will literally open your eyes, both literally and figuratively. The larbs are also wonderful. Fresh mint, onion, scallions, fish sauce and we had chicken meat. Again, they open up a difference sense of harmony in your mouth. Marry this with a clean crisp lager and once again, you're glad you're sitting at BMV. The crispy pork belly was a bit of a disappointment, just because we were so astonished by everything we tasted. It was really crisp, but had no flavor. And with the thickness of the meat, we would've appreciated some type of marination. Pad Thai was again a smash hit, without saying. Chicken Satays also very tender with thick peanut sauce. With the super friendly staff, and an unassuming interior that stays focused on food and service (it feels a bit like an upscale food hall), you have one of the best restaurants in the Bay Area. I do live far away from Alameda. But BMV will be a staple for me. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes Sakoo

My culinary adventure at this Thai Lao restaurant at Bhan Mar Vane was an absolute delight! The Mok Pla, a Basa fish infused with aromatic herbs and wrapped in banana leaves, was a flavor explosion that transported me straight to Southeast Asia. The Nam Khao, a crispy rice salad paired with preserved pork sausage, was a textural masterpiece – crunchy, savory, and perfectly balanced. The Sai Oua, a spicy pork sausage infused with herbs, added a kick to the meal that I thoroughly enjoyed. Each dish showcased the authentic and vibrant flavors of Thai Lao cuisine. If you're a food enthusiast, this restaurant is a must-visit for a memorable journey through deliciousness! Finally had a moment to dine in the restaurant. We've only ever done take-out. Food here was amazing! Only gripe is that our table wasn't offered the chili sauces in the orange containers. One of the dishes I ordered (saloon) usually comes with chili oil when we order take-out. Upon asking for some spice I was told the dish was already seasoned and they don't add anything else. Was really missing the spice level even with the fried red peppers that did come with the dish. Aside from that every dish we had was amazing. My kids tried everything that came out. Favorites from the kids were the angel wings and garlic noodles. I enjoyed every single dish. Probably not a place I would recommend on a busy Friday night if you're looking for something intimate. It was very loud inside. Actually refreshing to me so the kids didn't have to be super quiet. Very family friendly. Many people with kids were enjoying dining. Services and servers were on top of everything. Definitely a place we will be visiting again and often.
